A tribal Jirga was held in Landi Kotal tehsil of Khyber Agency, aimed at dispelling the misperception with regard to polio drive in the area scheduled on January 16 and also to create awareness among local tribesmen. This Jirga was held following the deaths of children in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency last week. In-charge Fata Polio Operational Committee, Dr Irfan, Assistant Political Tehsildar, Irshad Mohmand, Malik Nadim Afridi, Malik Tajuddin Shinwari, tribal elders and other participants were also present on the occasion.

Dr Irfan termed the propaganda against polio vaccination baseless and said the polio drops are the most protective and secured ones in entire world. He claimed that nobody had raised finger at polio drops across the world which proves that these are protective drops.

He asked tribal people to wholeheartedly vaccinate their children against polio virus in forthcoming polio drive in the area. Political Tehsildar of Landi Kotal, Irshad Mohmand in his address extended his full support to polio teams and claimed the administration will provide full proof security to polio teams administering children against polio virus. The political administration, he said would strive its best to make the upcoming campaign successful and help polio teams achieving their targets.
