Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN Office in Geneva Tehmina Janjua has said that foreign office and various foreign missions of Pakistan are working to highlight the human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir at the international forums.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan on Thursday, Tehmina Janjua said, "Since July last, the situation in Kashmir has helped realise the world that Kashmiris are rendering numerous sacrifices to win their right of freedom." She said, "The foreign office has been working strenuously to tell the world that situation of Kashmir should not be ignored by the world conscience."

She said, "The UN Security Council had promised to hold plebiscite in Kashmir to give Kashmiris their right to self determination, which has been denied by the Indian authorities." She also said that, "Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wrote a letter to the UN Secretary General drawing his attention toward the deteriorating situation of Kashmiris, besides raising this issue during his international visits to various countries." She said, "Peace and stability in South Asia is dependent on the resolution of this lingering conflict between Pakistan and India."
