President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Zubair Farid Tufail has assured the commercial importers that he would make all possible efforts to get their issues resolved on priority bases.

"Imports also play an important role in making raw material available which is vital for economic growth and business activity just like exports," he said speaking at a reception hosted by Pakistan Chemical and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) in honour of newly-elected president of FPCCI and vice president Saqib Fayaz Maggo. Newly-elected FPCCI president lauded the role of commercial importers to make regular business activity by providing raw material as per demand.

Referring to the issues relating to commercial imports vis-à-vis custom valuation, sales tax notices and income tax, etc, which fall in the jurisdiction of Customs and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Z F Tufail assured to take up these issues with the relevant authorities. He asserted that FPCCI would get their problems resolved. He also assured them to consider on proposed inclusion of a member of PCDMA in the FPCCI sub-committee. He also called for preparing budget proposals.

Chairman PCDMA, Nasiruddin Fateh Kukda, expressed hope that FPCCI would take on board their members to make joint efforts to solve the problem faced by commercial importers from time to time He also expressed serious concerns over the price of customs valuation which was not in accordance with the prevailing prices of international market. Shakeel Dhingra, PCDMA vice chairman, Suhail Ashraf Vohra, Choudhary Naseer, Haroon Agar, Arif Balgamwala, Nasir Hyatt Maggo, Sabir Chippa, Asghar Yakoob, Shaukat Hussain, Imran Ghayasuddin and Tariq Maggo, were also present.
