Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) president, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Sunday that there was no need for reconciliation between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari because both were already on the same page.

Addressing a press conference at his residence along with Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, former Punjab Chief Minister, he said all the opposition parties would have to agree on the formation of a grand alliance for the next elections with sincerity of purpose rather than personal benefits. He said that other political parties would need the backing of his party in the next general elections as they have massive following among the masses. He said it was up to the election commission to decide about next elections.

"Only time will tell whether Imran Khan and Asif Zardari can sit together or remain apart," he said. PML-Q Chief said in response to a question about Javed Hashmi's disclosures that judiciary should be spared from politics and be allowed to carry out its functions independently. He said they did not hear from anyone about the judicial martial law. He said that if that was a conspiracy, it had not succeeded.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said the incumbent Punjab government had failed in all fields and its performance in the last 9 years remained zero. He said it delayed the local government elections also. He claimed that the incumbent Chief Minister would not devolve powers to the district governments. Parvez Elahi further said that the PML-Q bagged more votes in 2008 than the PML-N and PPP. He alleged that the 2013 election was a show of former army chief General Kayani and former Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. According to him, Kayani under a conspiracy got the PML-N elected on the most of seats to please Nawaz Sharif.

He said the Panama papers leaks case was before the judiciary and it should be left to the court. Chaudhry Shujaat said the PML-Q would begin reorganisation of the party from Rawalpindi.
