The Chief Minister said that journalism was a sacred profession and the workers attached to this profession were very honourable.
He appreciated the unforgettable role played by the journalists' community during the tragedies faced by the province in the recent past. He said that the province was faced with great challenges and that is why the journalist community has to play their role in distinguishing truth and lies and organising people for safeguarding their rights.
He went on to say that journalists' role in reformation of the society was very clear. He said that democracy and journalism was very close to each other as the duty of a democratic government was to bring transparency, serve the people and protect the public rights while the duty of journalists was to gauge impartially the performance of the government and to see the commitment of different segments of the society and public sector institutions in handling their duty.
The Chief Minister said that the present government was taking practical steps for bringing justice and transparency in the province. He said that majority of the youth had voted for PTI and that is why agenda of the present government was the agenda for youth.
He called upon the young journalists to keep a vigilant eye over the performance of the government and help it in reformation of institutions and bringing transparency in the province. The Chief Minister said that the provincial government was taking positive criticism as a beacon of light for itself.
Pervez Khattak said that journalists' community had always been working for steering the society into the right direction.
