The Punjab Livestock & Dairy Development Board (PLDDB) has earned a profit of Rs 50 million in the year 2016 besides launching various projects aimed at improving milk yield. According to a brief year report shared by the PLDDB spokesman, the organisation launched a 60 kg silage bale project for 90% small farmers. The PLDDB silage was also sold in Karachi and Peshawar, the spokesman added.

The PLDDB during 2016 also increased its milk production from five liters per animal to 8.4 liters per animal at its Livestock Experiment Station Khizerabad. It also started Fodder Research & Development Cell to add the value to crop residues available in all districts of Punjab. To accelerate the progress of development projects, the PLDDB signed an agreement with various organisations including Engro Foods for sales and marketing of silage in Southern Punjab and signed a concession agreement with ICI for the operation of Genetic Improvement Center Khizerabad.
