As many as 447 special persons have been provided jobs in these institutions, he added. He expressed these views during a meeting with a five-member delegation of Pakistan Association for Blind. The minister said that Punjab government has started a number of schemes for special persons through which state-of-the-art training centres are being set up for providing technical training along with education to special persons where courses in computer, automobile, electrician, beautician, refrigeration and mobile repairing will be conducted for special persons.
He said that Punjab government has given three percent quota to special persons in jobs while it is two percent in federal and other provinces. He said that with increase in quota of jobs, special persons will be enabled to stand on their own feet and earn their livelihood. Chaudhry Shafique said that there is no dearth of talent in special persons, if provided proper education and training, they can make place in the society like normal human beings therefore, special steps are needed to bring the talent in special persons out so that they could become a useful part of the society.
President Pakistan Association for Blind Aamir Ashraf appreciated the steps being taken by Punjab government for special persons and said that Punjab chief minister had given funds of Rs one crore at Garhi Shahu from which, a building has been constructed for Pakistan Association for the Blind which will be soon inaugurated. He said that this association will conduct educational and technical courses for the blind persons due to which special persons will become useful citizen of the society.
