Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Sunday inaugurated Pakistan International Airlines' (PIA) Premier Service at Islamabad airport on Independence Day. The first flight of the Premier Service departed for London.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saw off the passengers of the first flight of the new service. Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and heads of PIA and Sri Lankan Airlines were also present on the occasion.

In a briefing, the Prime Minister was told that planes for the Premier Service were acquired from Sri Lanka on wet lease. PIA had formalised wet lease of three A-330 aircraft from Sri Lankan Airlines. The crew and staff of the Premier Service also got training from Sri Lankan experts.

Numerous additional facilities have been provided in planes of the Premier Service. Liquid-Crystal Displays (LCDs) were installed at every seat and Wi-fi facilities also made available for the passengers.

Timings of flights have also improved while the number of flights increased.
