Accusing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of destroying all state institutions to save his skin, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday claimed that the government is now busy to convince Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif to accept the slot of 'field marshal'. Addressing the PTI's 'Ehtesab Rally' at Faisal Avenue, here to celebrate 70th Independence Day of Pakistan, he called upon the people to be united against the menace of corruption.

The PTI chairman alleged that two top officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) - Amjad Zubair Tiwana, chief income tax and Dr Muhammad Irshad, member IR operations, have been assigned the special task of manipulating the corruption files of Nawaz Sharif.

"I'd like to tell Amjad Tiwana and Dr Irshad that Pakistan has changed and any attempt to save him [Nawaz Sharif] at the cost of taxpayers' money will cost them very heavily," he warned the FBR officials. He questioned NAB chairman for his ability to take action against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in wake of Panama leaks which revealed the offshore companies owned by his children.

"Why do you hold the position [of NAB chairman] if you are unable to take action," he questioned. He claimed that National Action Plan (NAP) is being implemented only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by making the police impartial and apolitical. He also proposed to merge Fata with KP by introducing reforms, adding the KP government will take the initiative if the federal government fails to fulfil the long-standing demand of bringing the tribal areas to the mainstream.
