The National Assembly Saturday approved as many as 75 demands of Rs 1.23 trillion of various ministries and departments. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar presented these demands in the House for approval. The House approved these Charged Expenditures included in the Demands for Grants and Appropriations for financial year 2016-17 after discussion. Charged expenditures totalling over Rs 10.42 trillion related to different departments and services including Pakistan Railways, National Assembly, the Senate, the Supreme Court, Islamabad High Court, domestic and foreign debt servicing and repayments, Pakistan Post Office, Wafaqi Mohtasib and the foreign affairs division were presented in the House.

The House approved Rs 545.9 million for Climate Change Division, Rs 4.69 billion for Commerce Division, Rs 5.25 billion for Communications Division, Rs 2.56 billion for other expenditures of Communications Division, Rs 16.35 billion for Pakistan Post Office Department, Rs 1.5 billion for Defence Division, Rs 1.16 billion for Survey of Pakistan, Rs 5.1 billion for Federal Government Education Institutions in Cantonments and Garrisons, Rs 860 billion for Defence Services, Rs 621.12 million for Defence Production Division and Rs 1.2 billion for Federal Education and Professional Training Division.

The House approved Rs 142.5 million for Housing and Works Division, Rs 3.39 billion for Civil Works, Rs 138.1 million for Estate Offices, Rs 82.5 million for Federal Lodges, Rs 307.45 million for Human Rights Division, Rs 295.2 million for Industries and Production Division, Rs 14.66 million for Department of Investment Promotion and Supplies, Rs 780.2 million for other expenditures of Industries and Production Division, Rs 614.95 million for Information and Broadcasting Division, Rs 252.5 million for Directorate of Publications, Newsreels and Documentaries, Rs 594.9 million for Press Information Department, Rs 774.4 million for Information Services Abroad, Rs 5.4 billion for other expenditure of Information and Broadcasting Division, Rs 702.4 million for National History and Literary Heritage Division, Rs 3.55 billion for Information Technology and Telecommunication Division and Rs 1.7 billion for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Division.

The Lower House of the Parliament also approved Rs 298.3 million for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Division, Rs 25.46 million for other expenditure of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Division, Rs 227 million for Gilgit-Baltistan, Rs 627.795 million for Law and Justice Division, Rs 3.379 billion for other expenditure of Law and Justice Division, Rs 99.63 million for Council of Islamic Ideology, Rs 345.105 million for District Judiciary, Islamabad Capital Territory, Rs 2.339 billion for National Accountability Bureau, Rs 1.99 billion for National Assembly and Rs 889.72 million for the Senate, Rs 1.73 billion for National health Services, Regulation and Co-ordination Division, Rs 1.19 billion for Overseas Pakistanis and human Resources Development Division and Rs 351 million for Parliamentary Affairs Division.

The House also approved Rs 1.15 billion for Planning. Development and Reforms Division, Rs 696.4 million for Ports and Shipping Division, Rs 72 billion for Pakistan Railways, Rs 404.6 million for Religious Affairs and Inter Faith Harmony Division, Rs 535 million for other expenditures of Religious Affairs and Inter Faith Harmony Division, Rs 447.5 million for Science and Technology Division, Rs 5.65 billion for other expenditure of Science and Technology Division, Rs 100.5 million for States and Frontier Regions Division, Rs 8.41 billion for Frontier Regions, Rs 20 billion for Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Rs 2.65 million for Maintenance Allowances to Ex-Rulers and Rs 488.485 million for Afghan Refugees, Rs 391 million for Textile Industry Division.

The National Assembly approved Rs 796.85 million for development expenditure of Commerce Division, Rs 5.285 billion for development expenditures of Communications Division, Rs 2.5 billion for development expenditure of Defence Division, Rs 2.3 billion for development expenditure of Defence Production Division, and Rs 2.22 billion for development expenditure of Federal Education and Professional Training Division, Rs 170 million for development expenditure of Human Rights Division, Rs 14.27 million for development expenditures of Information and Broadcasting Division, etc.

The House also approved Rs 30.65 billion for development expenditure of National Health Services, Regulations and Co-ordination Division, Rs 39.99 billion for development expenditure of Planning, Development and Reforms Division, Rs 22.3 billion for development expenditure of Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Rs 150 million for development expenditure of Textile Industries Division.

A total of Rs 6.8 billion was approved for Capital Outlay Civil Works, Rs 909.5 million for Capital Outlay on Industries Development, Rs 12.83 billion for capital outlay on Ports and Shipping Division and Rs 41 billion for capital Outlay and Pakistan Railways.
