Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has urged Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to try those involved in Model Town massacre in military courts. "Under the National Action Plan, Army is assigned to take on the terrorists and their facilitators, and Model Town massacre was also terrorism," he said while addressing the PAT sit-in staged by his supporters in Lahore at midnight between Friday and Saturday.

He said that the PML-N government would be replaced even before September this year. Qadri alleged that Prime Minister, Chief Minister Punjab, and some ministers were involved in the Model Town incident of June 17, 2014. He said that Punjab police officials were also responsible for the massacre but they carried out the instruction of higher authorities. He appealed to the army chief to dispense justice to the heirs of Model Town victims' heirs. He appreciated the heirs of the deceased for remaining steadfastness in the face of intimidations and monetary incentives.

He said that none of them bowed to the pressure nor they accepted compensation offer, which was in millions of rupees, besides jobs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. He said that there was neither rule of law nor genuine democracy in Pakistan, as the mighty and powerful were above the law. He demanded justice and Qisas for the Model Town massacre. He said the PAT wanted empowerment of poor people at grass root level, rule of law, sense of ownership to all the citizens of Pakistan on equality basis. He said all these were not possible without ouster of the incumbent rulers.

Qadri said that he and his supporters wanted an end to sectarianism and terrorism and due righhts to non-Muslim minorities. "We want to see Pakistan prosperous," he said. He also announced his support to the CPEC. Later he announced to end the sit-in, saying that they had committed to the administration to end their sit-in after Sehri. The sit-in was also addressed by PPP leader Latif Khosa, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, and others. Leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, PTI, MQM, PMLQ, and the MWM's representatives also attended the sit-in to express solidarity with PAT.
