Islamabad United won the first Pakistan Super League final by 6 wickets, defeating the hot favourite Quetta Gladiators at Dubai International Cricket Stadium late Tuesday night. Dwayne Smith's crushing 73-run innings seconded by Brad Haddin's 61-run effort helped Islamabad United to successfully achieve the target of 175 runs set by the Gladiators.

Islamabad United won the toss and opted for fielding first. Quetta Gladiators' first wicket fell in the first over as Bismillah Khan was out for naught. Andre Russell dismissed second batsman Pietersen while his team's total score stood at 33. Then, Gladiators played more responsibly and raised the score to 117 in 14 over. Then, third wicket of Kumar Singakara fell at 120 runs. Then, three batsmen had been sent to pavilion at scores of 120, 129, 140 and 153 respectively. Gladiators lost their 7th batsman Anwar Ali at his team's score of 168 in last over. With 8 more runs, Quetta Gladiators managed to score 174 runs. Shehzad scored 64 off 39 balls with nine fours and a six while Sangakkara made 55 off 32 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Islamabad United's Andre Russell took three wickets while left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Irfan captured two wickets. Dwayne Smith got man of the match award.
