United Bank Limited (UBL) recently announced the 5th UBL Literary Excellence Awards 2015. The event is an effort by the bank to encourage literary works and writers in Pakistan. UBL Literary Excellence Awards will be awarded to short-listed authors and publishers of books published in 2014. An esteemed panel of judges, comprising of eight of Pakistan's leading personalities in the field of literature and journalism short-listed 22 nominees from over 120 entries received for these awards.

Expressing his views, Wajahat Husain, President & CEO UBL said that the venture of UBL Literary Excellence Awards were a step towards promoting literature in Pakistan as well as encouraging people towards readership. He mentioned that the platform encouraged writers to come forward and promote their work. He further added that UBL felt privileged in organising the awards and aimed to carry it forward in the future as well.

The UBL Literary Excellence Awards have been held consecutively since the past 4 years. This year UBL has partnered with the Karachi Literature Festival, an event organised by the Oxford University Press. The awards will be held on Sunday, 7 February 2016 in Karachi.-PR
