Small Industries Development Board (SIDB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved the establishment of a small industries estate in Sunglai area of tehsil Barikot, Swat while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has also acquired 400 kanal land in Makidam area of the same tehsil of district.

In this connection meeting of Swat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) held here in Mingora with president, Haji Ahmad Khan in the chair. Those who attended were included vice president, Adnan Ali, Haroon, Akbar Ali Khan, Bakht Karam, Rahat Ali Khan, Noor Mohammad Khan, Yousaf Ali, Akbar Khan, Iqbal Khan, Haji Zamin, Haji Hameed-ur-Rehman and others.

The meeting expressed jubilation over the establishment of Swat Small Industries Estate and termed it a good towards improvement in the economy of district Swat. Addressing the meeting, the speakers said that the provincial government was not accepting their demands, but now the attitude of the government had changed and has started consideration for the resolution of their demands.

The SCCI chief said that he had discussed power related problems including load shedding with the Chief Executive, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), who has assured the replacement of main power supply line laid in 1964, which will minimize their electricity related problems. Federal government come under bitter criticising in the meeting and said that despite announcement Chakdara- Mingora and Bahrain-Kalam sections of road could not be constructed be initiated by the National Highway Authority (NHA), which is ample proof of incompetency of the federal government.
