Temperature in Skardu dropped below minus 10 degree Celsius as upcountry weather continues to a freezing cold point in the last 24 hours. Other areas with the lowest temperature over the period were Astore and Gupis minus 7 degree Celsius each, Kalat minus 6, Parachinar minus 5, Gilgit minus 4, Dir, Hunza and Malamjabba minus 3, Quetta minus 2 and Chitral minus 1.

"A western disturbance is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to move in North easterly direction during next 12 hours and then continental air likely to prevail over most parts of the country," the Met office said on Tuesday. Ten inches of snowfall was recorded in Malamjabba and two in Kalam. Pollen count for today was 10 per m3 of air. Fog is expected to grip plains of Punjab and upper Sindh in morning hours, it said.

More rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions, besides Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in the next 24 hours. In Chaklala 43mm of rainfall, Shamsabad 39mm, Islamabad Zero-point 36mm, Golra 27mm, Bokra 25 mm, Saidpur 24mm, Malamjabba 34mm, Chakwal 16mm, Parachinar and Jhelum 14 mm each, Risalpur 13 mm, Kamra and Mandi Bahaudin 10mm each, Sahiwal 9mm, T T Singh and Sargodha 8mm each, Saidu Sharif 7mm, Faisalabad, Mangla, Dir and Cherat 6mm each, Jhang, Joharabad and Kalam 5mm each were recorded in the last 24 hours.
