State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday extended deadline by three months for installation of bio-metric machines at bank branches. Earlier, on June 8, 2015, SBP directed all banks/DFIs to make use of bio-metric technology at the branch level for verification of particulars of prospective customers and asked that installation of bio-metric machines at branches should be completed by December 31, 2015.

However, several banks were unable to achieve the goal during the giving timeframe, therefore the SBP extended deadline for installation of bio-metric machines at branches till March 31, 2016, while all other instructions on the subject shall however, remain unchanged.
