Minor changes were seen on the money market on Monday as the rupee showed little fluctuations against the dollar in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee was unchanged against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.93 and Rs 104.95 respectively, experts said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee shed 10-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 106.00 and Rs 106.20 respectively, they added. The rupee, however, gained 15-paisa in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.60 and Rs 116.60 respectively, they added.

In the first Asian trade, the safe haven yen eased against the dollar after China's central bank set a stronger guidance rate for the yuan, soothing fears that Beijing is trying to weaken its currency to gain a competitive export advantage.

China's yuan firmed on Monday after the central bank set the daily midpoint rate higher for a second day, after allowing it to weaken for eight consecutive sessions. For now, the higher guidance rate helped calm market fears that Beijing may want to engineer a sharper devaluation, said Satoshi Okagawa, senior global markets analyst for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Singapore. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 66.81, the US currency was available at 4.4000 and the greenback was at 6.5820. Inter bank buy/sell rates for the taka against the dollar on Monday: 78.50-78.50 (previous 78.50-78.50).

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The local-rupee-American-dollar parity was unchanged amid sluggish trading on Monday.

The dollar did resume trading at its last week closing of Rs. 106.00 and Rs. 106.25 as its buying and selling but never see any change in its demand and supply which helped the rupee stability.

The dollar's opening rate continued to prevail till the close of trading though.

The rupee was also unchanged on buying at Rs. 154.00 while it declined on selling at Rs. 155.00 against the pound sterling which was bought and sold at Rs. 154.00 and Rs. 155.00 as compared with the last Saturday closing of Rs. 154.00 and Rs. 154.80.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar further gained strength against the Pak rupee on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.

The dollar opened at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.20 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.20 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling).
