Speaking at a press conference held here at the PPP's media cell, he said: "The ground situation in Thar is comparatively better than it was during previous years. The Sindh government has focused on upgrading the civic and health facilities in Thar and as such there is no shortage of doctors, paramedical staff and other medical facilities at the Mithi Civil Hospital."
"In fact, medical facilities available at the Mithi Civil Hospital are much better than in any other hospitals of the district," he added.
The minister said that the committee formed by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah during its recent visit to Thar met officers of local departments and the newly-elected representatives of local government institutions to know the situation prevailing there.
The committee has now submitted its recommendations to Sindh chief minister for his perusal and approval.
He said that though the committee has recommended 50kgs of wheat free to each family of Thar, the newly-elected representatives of local bodies have suggested that the government should provide wheat to local Thar population at half price.
Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information Moula Bux Chandio, Senator Saeed Ghani, members of provincial assembly - Sikandar Shoro and Lal Chand Okrani - and PPP Karachi chapter's Information Secretary Lateef Mughal were also present at the press conference.
