The Government Islamia High School in Lahore Cantonment came third. Shahid Ahmed of the Wapda School was the best batsman, while Hasnat Abbas of the Crescent School best bowler and Usama Zahid of the Central Model School best fielder of the tournament. The Water and Power Development Authority's first ever tournament was part of its corporate social responsibility to improve the standard of fielding in cricket. As many as eight teams took part in the 10-day cricket tournament played under modified rules focused on fielding skills of the players.
Inter-provincial Co-ordination Federal Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada was chief guest of the concluding ceremony, who gave a trophy plus a cash prize of Rs 50,000 to the Central Model School team. The runners-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 30,000 went to the Wapda School team and a cash prize of Rs 20,000 to the Government Islamia High School Lahore. He also doled out shields to best players, schools, umpires, scorers and technical committee members.
The minister also announced Rs 50,000 each for the winning team of the Central Model School and the runners-up Wapda School from the Ministry of Sports. In a speech later, the minister congratulated the Wapda for organising the tournament and said he hoped such innovative efforts would help improve the standard of fielding. Wapda Chairman Zafar Mahmood earlier told the minister about Wapda's role in promoting sports in Pakistan. He also asked the minister to direct the Sports Ministry and the Pakistan Sports Board to help the Wapda in organising sports competitions between students of mainstream schools and those of religious seminaries. Those also present were Wapda Power Member Badr-ul-Munir Murtiza, Wapda Secretary and Wapda Sports Board President Amer Ahmad and general managers.
