Flanked by PTI Iqbal Afridi, Zarnoor Afridi of JI, Maulana Ainuddin Shakir from JUI-F, Nisar Mohmand from ANP, Aftab Khan of PML-Q, Zahir Shah Safi of QWP, Chattan said a consensus was reached with consultations of tribal elders to completely repeal of the FCR, through which it was demand to give Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) as status of Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA).
However, he said the process was diminished by formation of new Fata Reforms Committee by the incumbent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor. He, therefore, said tribal leaders had outrightly rejected the committee since its inception, resultantly they started a protest movement, and staged a sit-in in Islamabad on December 16, 2015. "We haven't trusted upon the Fata Reforms Committee and its proceedings, as it has initiated activities from tribal Bajaur Agency, Chattan said. Because, he said the committee has started consultations with Fata and Governor Secretariat's, political agents, and other relevant officials, which are blue-eyed people of KP governor's and bureaucrats.
Furthermore, he said the committee members are not familiar with cultural traditions and customs of the tribal areas and they are not able to make positive reforms in Fata. Chattan said the Fata situation is improving with passage of time with successfully launched of operation Zarb-e-Azb, therefore, he urged the civil and military leadership to sit together with KP governor and address the tribal issue with consensus.
Iqbal Afridi said the PTI is serious to bring reforms in Fata, while a committee, comprising tribal elders and political leaders will be soon constituted to make efforts for resolution of tribesmen issues.
