During his visit to Corps Headquarters, Karachi, he said the Karachi operation is bringing relief in terms of a visible decline in the number of cases of targeted killings and extortion, Director General, ISPR, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, in a tweet, quoted the CoAS. The CoAS said peace in Karachi is the priority to revive economic vibrancy and well-being of people.
"We will continue to work with people and the provincial government to eliminate all mafias," he added. General Raheel Sharif said a more recent pattern of killings indicated a design which needed to be checked. He directed intelligence agencies and Rangers to trace out, apprehend and expose perpetrators. Upon his arrival at the Corps Headquarters, the CoAS was briefed by Corps Commander and Director General, Rangers on operational preparedness, Karachi operation and the latest law and order situation. The CoAS commended law enforcement agencies, especially Rangers, for peaceful, smooth NA-246 bye-election. He showed satisfaction over the intelligence input and progress of operation in Karachi.
