Former President and Pakistan People's Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has come out in support of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) saying that he will support MQM in times of trials and tribulations. Addressing a crowd at a luncheon, the former president stated that MQM had supported PPP in Senate elections and to abandon them now would amount to a betrayal.

Asif Ali Zardari said it would not be an easy task to impose governor's rule on Sindh. Zardari asked the crowd whether an alliance should be forged with MQM in their hour of need to which there was no response from the crowd. Noticing the silence, Asif Zardari joked that it would be taken as approval, adding that Nadir Magsi, member of Sindh Assembly, would raise an objection if nobody else would. Nadir Magsi replied that his displeasure for MQM is well known; however, he would honour the commitment the party made on the occasions of the Senate elections.
