  • Comments Off on Chinese president not to visit on Pakistan Day: Aziz
Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday confirmed that Chinese President Xi Jinping is not arriving on March 23 to attend the Pakistan Day military parade, but will visit Pakistan shortly. Talking to media persons after attending General (Retd) Abdul Majeed's book launching ceremony, the Adviser said the Chinese President is not coming on March 23, however, the two sides are in contacts with each others to finalise dates for his visit.

He said the Chinese president will visit Pakistan shortly. Earlier, there were reports that the Chinese president will visit Pakistan this month and will attend the Pakistan Day military parade as chief guest. However, it was not officially confirmed by the foreign offices of Pakistan and China.

To a question about any breakthrough in the recent visit of Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar to Islamabad, the Adviser said that there was not any significant progress in talks between two foreign secretaries but it opened the door for future engagement between two countries.

"Although there was no immediate progress in the recent meeting of two foreign secretaries, yet the meeting has opened the door for future engagement between two countries," Aziz added. He said that there was no date fixed for the next round of Pakistan-India talks. To another question, the Adviser said that Pakistan and Afghanistan were co-operating with each other on the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.
