During the early 70's Shiekh Abdul Kader Al-Bakri laid the foundation of AL-Kumasia Establishment and Bakri Bunker. Later on various other companies were added namely Bakri Trading Co and Bakri Trading Company Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, Bakri Navigation and Red Sea Marine Services.

Bakri is a global Company of repute providing services in Middle East, Sub-Indian Continent and Far East Region in the markets of Oil and energy trading, ship building and repair, sea port marine services, ship and airport refuelling, ship management and international chartering.

In view of increasing economic activity and demand of POL products in Pakistan, the Bakri group Saudi Arabia found it prudent to invest in the Oil and Gas Sector in Pakistan. With this objective it decided to establish an Oil Marketing Company under the name of Bakri Trading Company Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd Bakri group has a rich experience in the Oil, Gas and related industry and since past many years is supplying Fuel Oil globally, including Pakistan. Bakri Pakistan has its registered Head Office in Karachi with regional offices in Lahore and Islamabad.

The Marketing license to Bakri was granted by the Government of Pakistan Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources on 18 August 2005 after substantial investment in the area of infrastructure development, retail outlet networks and storage facilities. The Company commenced its commercial operation from September 2007.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

Prime Corporate Objective of Bakri is to ensure the health and safety of employees, customers, contractors, and members of the community who may likely to be affected by its Operations. It is the culture of the Company to perform work functions in the safest manner adhering to health and safety codes and practices consistent with best industrial practices. The Company is very conscious of the fact that is has to protect and look after the environment, hence it forms an important arm of its HSE policy.

BUSINESS PRACTICES AND CUSTOMER CARE

Bakri caters for an serves a vast spectrum of population throughout Pakistan, including Retail, Consumer and Independent Power Projects etc. With entrance of new OMCs an increasing competitive business environment has evolved, therefore Bakri is driven with a focus towards operational excellence strictly adhering to standardised procedures and business practices which ensure quality and right quantity as well as caters to customer requirements. At Bakri customer is most important and as such "Customer Care" is its hallmark.

RETAIL BUSINESS

On the retail development Bakri has plans to make sizeable investment to develop retail outlets across Pakistan. It has developed a vast network of retail outlets across the country and has plans to expand its network to reach the door step of its customer by June 2014. Bakri Retail Outlets offer modern facilities essential for the comfort of travelling motorists and truck drivers alike and are equipped with convenient stores known as 'BAQALA', tyre shop, mosque, rest rooms, electronic dispensing units etc.

STORAGE DEVELOPMENT

Bakri is engaged in an ambitious program of investment in storage and distribution development in Pakistan. It has already made large investment in the construction of two oil terminals. This includes a 70,000 M. Tons state-of-the-art oil storage terminal at Port Qasim. This terminal is designed to have 60,000 MT storage of HSFO, 10,000 MT of HSD and 525 MT of PMG and is connected with FOTCO HSFO and HSD tanker discharge lines. Import cargo immediately after berthing can thus pump product direct to Bakri Terminal storage tanks. Bakri has also constructed its second storage of 10,500 MT at Machike, Sheikhupura. With the construction of this Terminal Bakri has improved its distribution facility in Punjab and increased the strategic storage capacity of Pakistan. Bakri takes pride in mentioning here that we have the second largest storage of Furnace Oil amongst OMCs in the country and are in a very strong position to cater to the needs of Furnace Oil for the power sector customers in particular and other wide ranging customers in general.

SOURCE OF SUPPLY

Bakri has made arrangements with Southern and Mid Country Refineries for the supply of petroleum products to meet its customer requirements in the northern and southern regions. Our Port Qasim Terminal caters for storage of our imported Furnace Oil while Machike Terminal is fed through pipeline from mid country refinery, PARCO.

Bakri also has Product Hospitality Agreement for receiving of PMG & HSD at Karachi from Southern Refineries. The company has Sale & Purchase agreements with Mid Country Refinery to meet the demand of Punjab and Northern Regions and with other OMCs for sale/purchase of POL Products across country-wide locations.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Bakri Trading Company Pakistan is the first Oil Marketing Company to start blending of High Sulphur Fuel Oil in Pakistan. To achieve this milestone, the company made sizeable investment for establishment of blending facility at Port Qasim Terminal.

Bakri has entered into long term Fuel Supply Agreement for 25 years with HUBCO for its Narowal Power Project of 225 MW for supply of 360,000 tons of HSFO per Annum. The total requirement of HUBCO is being met by Bakri through imports and from local refineries.

Bakri is also a member of MFM (Mahmoodkot - Faisalabad - Machike) pipeline. Bakri has also developed a tracker equipped modern vehicle fleet management to supply Petroleum products to its customers.

Bakri Pakistan has been awarded the ISO 9001: 2008 certification. This international standard recognises and validates Bakri's dedication to customer satisfaction, and verifies the high standards being followed in all departments of the Company.

FUTURE PLANS

Bakri plans to construct an additional storage at Shikarpur in Interior Sindh. This will increase the total storage capacity of POL in the country besides generating employment opportunities in Pakistan. Bakri is also planning to explore the possibility of establishing a network at Bin Qasim Port to provide bunkering services.

Bakri has also planned to blend and market a wide range of Automotive and Industrial lubricants to cater to the market needs across Pakistan. Bakri has been permitted by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources to blend and market HSFO in Pakistan.

Bakri intends to establish aircraft refuelling services as a vibrant supplier at Pakistan's major international airports at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. In this regard Bakri International will provide technical support in line with the aviation industry standards.

Bakri Pakistan continues its commitment for further investment and expansion in order to support the energy sector of the Pakistan.

Human Resource at Bakri is its biggest asset and strength. Equipped with adequate resources and a very aggressive marketing strategy it aspires to be a front line OMC in Pakistan Second to None.
