Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened an important meeting on Tuesday to review the progress on the National Action Plan to counter terrorism. The meeting to be chaired by the Prime Minister and attended by Interior Minister, Chief of Army Staff General, and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is also likely to discuss a legislation required for the establishment of army-led special courts to try terrorists.

An official said that Prime Minister also chaired a meeting of the implementation committee on Saturday to discuss a strategy aimed at dealing with judicial matters, passage of a legislation, etc, and constituted working groups in this regard. The meeting also discussed legal amendments required for the establishment of special courts for speedy trial of terrorists. Sources said that the contours of amendments, which the Prime Minister has been discussing with his legal team, are likely to be made known in the next few days.

He said that there is possibility of a National Assembly's session as soon as the draft of the proposed legislation is cleared by the Tuesday's meeting.
