Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, during his visit to the United States on Sunday met with US Central Command (Centcom) Commander General Lloyd J. Austin III, a private TV channel reported. During the meeting, the army chief discussed the operation conducted against militants by the Pakistan Army and the success achieved so far. General Austin commended the efforts made by the Pakistan Army and acknowledged the success achieved during Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

General Raheel and Centcom Commander also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the need to bring peace and stability in that country. General Raheel Sharif will also meet Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey during ongoing trip. Officials say General Raheel's meetings with US counterparts will provide an opportunity to enhance bilateral military-to-military co-operation.
