The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) fortnightly report shows that around 83,82,419 cotton bales were sourced to the country's ginners by November Ist ,2014. Which shows an increase of 10.20 percent than last year where ginneries received 76,06,263 bales. PCGA Chairman, Hafeez Anwar briefed journalists on Monday about seed-cotton (phutti) arrivals, sales and unsold stock of cotton. He said that 60,60,151 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 2,15,650 bales. Thus, overall 62,99,385 bales were traded so far.
He said that PCGA was following the production target of Pakistan Central Cotton Committee .Hafeez Anwar said that total 1102 (840 in Punjab+ 262 in sindh),out of 1200 ginning factories, are operational in two provinces. The chairman of PCGA said that Punjab contributed 43,13,121 bales which is 14.37 percent more than last year whereas the Punjab contributed 39,52,873 bales , Sindh contributed 26,35,770 bales which is 3.90 percent more than last year, when it contributed 26,32,011 bales and Balochistan 46,200 bales.
After the total trading of 62,99,385 bales, there are 20,83,034 bales available with ginners as unsold stock. He was optimistic that cotton rates may increase considerably when PCGA will start procurement. District wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 1,66,246 ,bales 0.39 percent more than last year, Lodhran 1,32,665 bales 0.78% decrease, Khanewal 6,31,221 showing an increase of 14.97 %, Muzaffargarh 2,27,360 bales 15.38% increase, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,45,415 bales showed an increase of 21.45%, Rajanpur 317,321 bales showing an increase of 45.99% .Layyah 190,280 bales 43.01% more than last year, Vehari 5,60,381 bales showing an increase of 11.59%, Sahiwal 4.08,372 bales increased by 22.55% ,Pakpattan 1,43,852 showing 18.13% more than preceding year ,Okara 40,758 showing an increase of 30.63%, Kasur 16,300 bales 8.94% less than last year, Toba Tek Singh,2,15,462 bales (an increase of 42.76% ) ,Faisalabad 69,300 (increase 46.05 %),Jhang 56,900 (38.20 % short), Mianwali 1,42,250 bales (24.56% increase), Bhakkar 1,02,100 showing a increase of 14.08% , Sargodha 10,370 bales (46.86% short) ,RahimyarKhan , 4,42,761 bales decrease of 2.70% , Bahawalpur 5,30,577 bales (an increase of 18.40%) and Bahawalnagar 5,33,550 bales showing an increase of 5.93%.
District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 2,33,990 bales showing a decrease of 12.43%, Mirpur Khas 3,61,007, showing an increase of 12.11%. Sangarh 13,34,428 Nawabshah 2,45,211 Naushero Feroze 1,73,309, Khairpur 1,82,206 Ghotki 89,764 bales, Sukkur, 2,66,856 , Jamshoro 1,34,109 bales, Badin 52,900 and Balochistan 49,518 bales. Ginneries received 30,38,035 bales during the fortnight of October 16 to November IST. Unsold stock is 20,83,034 which is more than last year when it reached to 17,22,723 bales. Ginners were expecting better prices of their lint but prices have fallen down beyond their expectations. PCGA blamed the policy makers who had allowed importing cotton and yarn from India.
