Shah added the names of former Justice Saeeduz Zaman Siddqui, former Justice Rana Bhagwandas and former Justice Ajmal Mian have been proposed for the post of Chief Election Commissioner. According to the sources, however, the Prime Minister proposed the names of former Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid, former Justice Tasadduq Husain Jilani and one more name for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan. The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the government to appoint a new CEC by November 13.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that name of former justice Nasir Aslam Zahid should also be included in the list of three former judges, who have been proposed for appointment as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). He expressed these views while talking to newsmen during his visit to Wagah Border on Thursday.
"This morning Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah informed me about the names of the three former judges, who have been proposed for CEC; however, PTI leadership is of the view that all the three proposed names are highly respectable, but the name of former justice Nasir Aslam Zahid should also be included in the list," he demanded.
The PTI leader visited Wagha Border to show solidarity with Pakistan Army. He paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in the suicide bombing. He said that he had come to pay tribute to the army men and to share the grief with families of those killed in the deadly attack. The whole nation is united against terrorism, he added. Later, Qureshi inadvertently crossed Zero Line at Wagah Border while shaking hands with Indian tourists from the other side; however he quickly retracted when a Ranger man pointed it out.
