Though Eidul Azha will be celebrated across the country on Monday (tomorrow) on the official announcement made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee headed by Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, while on the call of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan's local unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Eidul Azha will be observed today (Sunday) in central districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Traditionally, Afghan refugees who have been living in Pakistan for decades celebrate Eids whether it is Eidul Fitr or Eidul Azha with Saudi Arabia, thus, following it, Afghan refugees observed Eidul Azha in FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday. In this regard, a huge Eid congregation was held at Kacha Ghari Camp in Peshawar where thousands of Afghan refugees offered Eid prayers and exchanged greetings. Afghan refugees living in Shamshato Camp in Nowshera, Khurasan and Zandi camps and those living in Charsadda, Swabi, Haripur and the tribal areas also offered Eid prayers and slaughtered sacrificial animals.
Similarly, Eidul Azha was also partially celebrated by tribesmen in upper Mohmand Agency, in some parts of Bajaur, Khyber and Orakzai Agencies with Saudi Arabia. In the observance of Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi, tribesmen held congregations and slaughtered animals.
This year too the people residing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would celebrate Eidul Azha on three different days. The Afghan refugees and tribesmen in some parts of FATA celebrated Eid On Saturday, while a considerable number of people living in the Peshawar Valley and some of the faithful in the southern districts would celebrate Eid on Sunday (today) as announced by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of the unofficial moon-sighting Ruet-e-Hilal committee based in Peshawar's Qasim Ali Khan mosque, while the people of Hazara and Malakand divisions may observe Eidul Azha with the rest of the country.
