Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that as the country steadies on the democratic path change must come through the ballot. Speaking here at a ceremony on the occasion of the launch of Vision 2025, he wondered that for how long the country would experience the perpetual disruption of democratic rule. The Prime Minister further stated he has accepted the challenge to bring the country out of difficulties and those who are challenging him must tell him what grave wrong he has committed during the last one year.

"I am unable to understand the agenda of revolutionaries and long marchers. We are talking about taking the country towards self-reliance and they are talking about destruction and anarchy," he said, urging the nation to take notice of the situation. The Prime Minister also questioned the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, stating that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has not been able to deliver to the people of KP. Obliquely referring to the scheduled protests of Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan, he asked that he was keen to understand the gravity of his mistake that had made his rivals to seek his resignation and removal of his government. Nawaz said that he is ready to meet PTI chief even at a phone call and the latter's party point out shortcomings in the government policies in the National Assembly.

Prime Minister added that the economy has started showing positive trend while work is under way on several power projects including Dasu hydel power project. However, he added, it will take time to overcome the energy crisis. The Prime Minister said that action should also be taken against those who were responsible for terrorism in the country. "We are trying to eliminate terrorism from the country but revolution and long marchers are pulling our legs," he said.

Nawaz said the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan has greatly helped in improving the situation and expressed the confidence that the country will succeed in completely eradicating the menace of terrorism. Speaking at the ceremony, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that effective policies of the government brought the country back from verge of default.

The Minister added that all the sectors of the economy, including agriculture, are on government's priority list and a significant amount has been allocated in the current fiscal budget for grant of loans to farmers. The government would also give a subsidy on fertilisers to farmers. He said government's economic performance has also been acknowledged by the international financial institutions and they have improved Pakistan's ranking. As a result of effective policies, management and financial discipline, country's foreign exchange reserves have increased to 14.3 billion dollars and the economy is on a sound footing now.

Dar said the country required economic revolution for which the present government has provided the base. The government is taking the country towards economy prosperity but regretted that some people are trying to create hurdles.
