The first meeting of a four-member committee constituted to hold talks with the Taliban will be held at the Prime Minister House, here on Friday, the PM's Special Assistant on National Affairs, Irfan Siddiqui said. Irfan, who is also a member of the committee, said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would chair the meeting. The meeting would deliberate upon the scope and mandate of the committee, sources said.

During his National Assembly address on Wednesday, the Prime Minister had said peace should be given another chance as he announced the formation of a four-member committee to carry out the dialogue process with the Taliban. The committee comprises Irfan Siddique (Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Affairs), Major Amir(Retd), Rahimullah Yousafzai (journalist) and Rustam Shah Mohmand (former Ambassador to Afghanistan).
