Eidul Azha is being celebrated Wednesday (today) almost all over the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Eid congregations will be held amid stringent measures adopted by the law enforcing agencies. The main Eid congregation in the federal Capital will be held at the Faisal Mosque. On the occasion, special prayers will be offered for the progress and prosperity of the country, unity of the 'Ummah,' solution of their problems and liberation of Muslim territories.

After offering Eid prayers, the faithful will start the process of slaughtering sacrificial animals, which will continue till third day of the Eid. The government has already announced four Eid holidays from October 15 to 18, on account of Eidul Azha. All the government offices will remain closed during these days. Routine official business will resume on October 21 (Monday).

Meanwhile, foolproof security measures have been adopted on the occasion of Eid. Policemen have been deputed outside the bazaars, shopping centres and sensitive public and private buildings. Strict security measures had also been adopted outside the 'Eidgahs', while police kept patrolling.

In Lahoreā€š the main Eid congregation will be held at Badshahi Mosque. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar will offer Eid prayers there. Later, he will exchange Eid greetings at Governor House. Pursuant to directions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the provincial and district government authorities have finalised necessary arrangements for cleanliness and disposal of offal of sacrificial animals on Eidul Azha. Special teams have been formed to take action against the persons to be found involved in burning head and feet of sacrificial animals on the roadsides.

On the other hand, managements of public sector hospitals across the province have also made arrangements to provide efficient medical cover round the clock during Eidul Azha holidays. Doctors and medical staff have been assigned duties in all public sector hospitals across the province during Eid holidays.
