Eighteen persons, mostly government employees, including two women died and 40 other rendered maimed in bomb explosion in a bus at Gulbela, Charsadda Road Peshawar on Friday. Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Sahibzada Mohammad Anis confirmed the deaths of 18 persons and injuries to 40. However, he remained short to say that whether it was a suicidal or an already planted explosive.

The bodies and injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar and District Headquarters Hospital, (DHQ) Charsadda. A spokesman of LRH confirmed the shifting of 10 bodies and 16 injured to the facility, while seven bodies and 14 injured were brought to DHQ Charsadda. The death toll in the incident would increase as several other injured were in critical condition.

The bodies shifted to LRH have been identified as Amir 30, son of Nisar, resident of Gulbela; Gulab Said 57 son of Babu Khan, resident of Charsadda; Haroon 45 son of Shah Mohammad, resident of Umerzai; Imdad Ali 45, resident of Gulbela; Sher Zaman 60 son of Aziz-ur-Rehman; Zahidullah son of Zaman Khan, resident of Badeen Miana while the identification of five other bodies laying in LRH could not be ascertained.

The ill-fated bus was carrying the government employees to their houses when it blown out with a power explosion at Gulbela, main Charsadda Road. About 60 to 70 commuters were on board at the time of explosion. According to the police explosive material was planted in back portion of the bus.

It was the second incident of this nature; at the same place bus explosion also occurred on June 9, 2012. The commuters of that bus were also mostly government employees. It is second terror incident during the current week as on last Sunday, a Christian Church at Kohati Gate, Peshawar city, was also attacked with twin suicide bombings.
