The government on Saturday announced increase in POL prices following fluctuations in global oil prices effective Sunday (today). Sources said the government has passed on full impact of increase in prices of all petroleum products except HSD to consumers. The price of petrol has gone up by Rs 4.64 per litre from existing Rs 104.50 to Rs 109.14 per litre. Kerosene oil witnessed a hike of Rs 4.71 per litre, bringing its price up from Rs 101.28 to Rs 105.99 per litre.

The price of Light Diesel Oil (LDO), mainly used for industrial purposes, has witnessed an increase to the tune of Rs 2.31 per litre, from the current Rs 96.12 to Rs 98.43per litre. The price of High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) mainly used in luxury cars, has been hiked by Rs 5.89 per litre from existing Rs 132.44 to Rs 138.33 per litre.

The price of JP-1 saw a hike of Rs 10, JP-4 Rs 4.12 and Rs JP-8 4.40 per litre bringing prices to Rs 99.88, 86.46 and Rs 93.95 per litre, respectively. Sources said following the directions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the government made partial increase of Rs 2.50 per litre in price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) mostly used in agriculture and transport sector. According to a summary, an increase of Rs 3.57 per litre was proposed in price of HSD. Now, the government has given a subsidy of Rs 1.07 per litre on HSD to facilitate consumers following direction of the Prime Minister. Total subsidy on HSD now stands at Rs 3.63 per litre.
