The floodwater spilled over Jamshed protective dyke, New Panjoo, Fareed Abad, Ulra Jagir and other protective dykes submerging over 180 villages of Keti Mooso Bughio, Keti Mangi Marri, Keti Chhutto Chano, Keti Pirzado, Keti Noorpur, Kot Chandio, Kachi Bindo, Ulra Jagir areas including village Geo Chano, Arzi Malah, Hashim Kalhoro, Wahar, Muhammad Suleman, Iqbal Kalhoro, Hazar Khan Khoso, Shah Nawaz Kharos, Zamir Narejo, Hadi Bux Uttero, new Narejo and other villages. The villagers affected with the flood are looking for help because their houses and other belongings were completely submerged in flood.
The communication system completely cut off. There are few boats not enough to carter the need of the people. Some flood affected families have made their way to the safer places but they are living in open sky without help from the administration.
Waterborne diseases increased manifolds and many old young, children male and female badly needed medicines for treatment. The affected people strongly protested against the lethargic attitude of government and district administration. Talking to newsman the mostly affected people complaint that they were looking for help, they badly required food potable water, medical teams and boats.
Meanwhile, after the news of flood appearing in papers, Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Munawar Ali Mithiyani along with Assistant Commissioners, Mukhtiar Kar Kingri, EDO Health and other officials visited some affected area and reviewed rescue operation. Talking to people, DC said that immediately six relief camps had been set up and five boats were provided while he had already directed the health department to provide medical assistance to the affected people and set up their camps immediately.
The DC also briefed the media at Darbar Hall and said that 60 percent of Kingri, 20 percent Gambat and 25 percent area of taluka Sobhodero affected till to date. The DC forecast that 0.7 million cusecs water would be released from Sukkur Barrage and now was releasing 0.34 million cusecs. He said the situation was under control and 14 medical camps had been established. DC said that total population of affected areas was 119890.
