The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed all arrangements for holding presidential election today (Tuesday). The Electoral College for the election comprises both houses of the parliament and the four provincial assemblies. The polling will start at 10am and will continue till 3pm. Mamnoon Hussain of PML-N and Wajhiuddin Ahmad of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) are in the run for the top constitutional slot.

ECP said ballot papers and other related material had already been sent to Parliament House in Islamabad and provincial assemblies of Sindh‚ Balochistan‚ Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The election will be held through secret ballot. The ECP has prohibited carrying of mobile phones or any other electronic device through which picture of ballot paper could be taken in the premises during the voting process.

Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim will perform the duty as Returning Officer while chief justices of high courts will act as presiding officers. The results of the presidential election will be announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday, on the day of polling. According to an ECP notification, a letter has been written to the High Court registrars directing them to fax results after voting concludes. Parliamentarians will elect a new president on Tuesday between 10:00am and 3:00pm.
