The body of a German mountaineer was dispatched to Berlin on Sunday, two weeks after she died during an expedition to a Himalayan peak in northern Pakistan, the group's tour operator said. Dana Heide, a 39-year-old from the eastern German town of Elsterwerda, slipped in snow late on July 6 and was swept away by a mountain stream. Her body was recovered the following day.

She was the only female member of an experienced German team attempting to climb 8,047-metre-high Broad Peak, the world's 12th highest mountain, in Gilgit-Baltistan region.

The expedition was immediately called off following the accident. Army helicopters airlifted her body from the team's base camp at around 5,000 metres elevation, five days after the accident took place. It was then transported to the capital Islamabad.
