Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday refused to hear petition that had sought cancellation of bail granted to former President and army Chief Pervez Musharraf in judges' detention case by Islamabad High Court. The Chief Justice and other judges of the superior judiciary were allegedly detained at their official residences after proclamation of emergency on November 3, 2007.

Advocate Aslam Ghumman had filed a petition with a plea to set aside the decision of the IHC, urging the apex court to apprehend Musharraf in the instant matter. The matter was fixed for hearing before a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed. The Chief Justice asked the Registrar's office to fix the matter for hearing before another bench next week.
