The newly elected members would take oath. Speaker Fehmida Mirza would conduct proceedings of the inaugural session. The election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker would be held on June 3. On June 4 or 5, election of the new Prime Minister of Pakistan would be held. The elected leader of the House will take oath on the evening of June 5. He said the caretaker government had fulfilled its responsibility in a responsible way. The elections were free and fair barring very few negligible complaints as comparing to past. The caretakers government did not close mobile phone services on election day, the minister added.
Caretaker government had acted in impartial way by ensuring free, fair and impartial elections. There was no favourite or blue eyed of the government. The government treated all and sundry equally. Responding to a question, he said he has initiated endowment fund for working journalists with seed money of Rs 10 million. Efforts are underway to enhance the endowment fund by Rs 20 million. The amount would be paid to the journalist who lost their lives during the duty. He agreed with a questioner that the owners of newspapers should timely pay the remunerations of the workers.
To a question he said that he had no role in preparing secret list of beneficiary journalists of secret fund of the ministry. Secretary Information and Broadcasting Agha Nadeem said the secret funds are used in providing prompt help to the deserving as following the set rules takes three to four months. The Information ministry spends the funds as per set procedure. He blamed circular debt as real cause of load shedding. Caretakers government is trying its best to minimise loadshedding. The government has approved Rs 22 billion for clearing dues of power companies. The caretaker minister visited the press club.
