Khalid Ahmad was buried in Lahore on Tuesday. His Namaz-e-Jinaza was attended by poets, playwrights and prominent literary figures of Lahore including Chairman Lahore Arts Council Attaul Haq Qasmi, Amjid Islam Amjid, Murtaza Barlas, Dr Khawaja Zakria, Dr Khurshid Rizvi, Ajmal Niazi and PTV Controller Current Affairs Iftikhar Majaz.
Besides being a known poet, he was an acknowledged playwright and author of a number of books, including 'Tashbeeb', 'Hathaliun Par Charagh', Pehli Sada Parinday Ki', 'Ek Muthi Hawa' and 'Num Grifta'. 'Kajol Ghar' was one of his famous plays.
Khalid Ahmad was younger brother of famous short story writers Hajira Masroor and Khadija Masroor. The whole family served the cause of Urdu literature. Khalid Ahmad brought out a litterary magazine called Bayaz. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Khalid Ahmad, renowned poet, critic and senior columnist.
In his condolence message, the CM said Khalid Ahmad was a classic and unique poet who would be remembered for a long time for his poetry and "Naat-Goi". He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
