Dense fog descended on Lahore and other parts of Northern Punjab, plunging visibility to zero and forcing closure of the Allama Iqbal International Airport and Motorways on Saturday. According to reports, several flights were delayed and some others diverted to Islamabad due to low visibility in Lahore.

A flight bringing players of the Pakistan's national hockey team home from Doha was diverted to Karachi and later flown back to Doha, leaving many people disappointed, who were waiting at the Allama Iqbal International Airport to extend warm welcome to the national players upon their arrival in Lahore for defeating archrival India to annex the Asian Champions Trophy on Thursday.

Severe cold weather accompanied by dense fog caused multiple problems for travellers in Lahore, Faisalabad and areas around the Motorways. The northern half of the country is in the grip of severe cold wave following the day-long drizzle and snowfall over the hills.
