Salim Abbas Gilani has resigned from the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL). He has been replaced by Shahid Aziz Siddiqui as acting Chairman of SSGCL. Addressing the Board meeting held here on Friday Abbas Gilani said that since the Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources has moved a summary "for my removal which will fairly conclude that he has lost confidence in me, leaving with me no choice but to resign."

His resignation was accepted by the Board which also approved the appointment of Shahid Aziz Siddiqui as acting chairman till such time the Prime Minister appoints a new Chairman.
