Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Karachi on Friday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle around four kilograms heroin out of Pakistan through passenger baggage. According to sources, credible information was received by Assistant Collector, Asad Ali Khan that some unscrupulous elements were trying to smuggle heroin to United State of America.

Acting on this information, an ASO team of DGI&I headed by Haji Aslam Khan intercepted a pickup van, carried cartons jeans, outside the export gate of airport. The sources said the scrutiny of the documents revealed that the said goods were booked for USA from Karachi. After thorough examination of the consignment, the ASO team recovered white heroin powder packed in polythene packets that were cleverly concealed in the jeans. They said the heroin powder was instantly tested with a Narcotics Test Kit, which gave a positive inference and added that the recovered narcotics was found to be 3800 grams. Consequently, the accused shipper, Ibrahim Khan, who hailed from KPK, was arrested. Further investigation is underway.
