Abid Javed Akbar, a retired senior bureaucrat, has been appointed as Chief Executive (CE) of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). According to sources, the government has finally appointed a new chief executive of the authority, which was being headed by officials having additional charges. Concerned authorities approved the appointment on Friday.

Abid has earlier served the organisation as Vice Chairman, Export Promotion Bureau, (presently TDAP). Talking to Business Recorder, he confirmed his appointment as CE TDAP. Tahir Raza Naqvi, who is also Chairman of Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), was currently heading the organisation. According to sources many influential retired bureaucrats were lobbying for the slot of CE TDAP since it was vacant after the termination of the job of Tariq Iqbal Puri, who served the organisation for around two years.
