PML-N leader MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest while heads of institutions and position holders and their parents attended the medal awarding ceremony. In his welcome address, BISE Chairman Muhammad Nasrullah Virk said first time in the history of the Board's result late (RL)/error free results had been announced. He appreciated the efforts of the BISE employees as well as the teachers, who worked day and night in preparation of results. The position holders were awarded medals, merit certificates and cash prizes amounting to Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 along with gold, silver and bronze respectively. The overall topper was also awarded a laptop computer. Speaking on the occasion, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that around 100,000 talented youth left the country every year owing to non-recognition of their talent. He urged educated youth to unite in order to bring the rulers on right path.
According to the BISE Chairman, girls shared major part of top positions. He announced that along with three girls one boy from Government College University had shared second position in the annual Intermediate Examinations of 2012. According to the Board Chairman, in overall top positions, Amina Riaz from Punjab College for Women (PCW), Lahore stood first with 1,029 marks, M Umer from Government College University (GCU) stood second with 1,028 marks, Zabreen Tahir from Government Kinnaird College for Women (KCW) also stood second with 1,028 marks and Fatima Khurshid from (PCW) stood third with 1,027 marks.
In Pre-Medical Group (Boys) Zamad Gilani from GCU, Lahore stood first with 1,025 marks, Ahmar Saleem from Punjab College of Science (PCS) stood second with 1,017 marks and Awais Raza from GCU stood third with 1,016 marks. In Pre-Medical Group (Girls) Zabreen Tahir from KCW stood first with 1,028 marks, Maryam Tahir from Unique Higher Secondary School for Girls stood second with 1,024 marks; and Sarah Arif from KCW and Aimen Anwar from PCW stood third with 1,021 marks each.
Punjab College for Women (PCW) took top positions in Pre-Engineering Group (Girls) as its students Amina Riaz and Fatima Khurshid stood first and second with 1,029 and 1,027 marks respectively, while Afeerah Javed from KCW stood third with 1,023 marks.
In Pre-Engineering Group (Boys) GCU took two top positions as its students Umer and Najam Tariq stood first and second with 1,028 and 1,026 marks respectively, while PCS remained at third position owing to 1,022 marks of its student Mughees Ahmad. In General Science Group (Girls) Komal Siddiqui and Fatima Qamar from KCW stood first and second with 988 and 974 marks respectively, while Janeeta Raj from PCW stood third with 971 marks. In Boys Group M Aamir Ayyaz, Naeem Ur Rahman and Rizwan Liaqat stood first, second and third with 961, 954 and 946 marks respectively.
Afreen Malik and Khalida Muzaffar stood first and second in Commerce Group (Girls) from PCW with 964 and 960 marks, while a private candidate Mahnoor Fawad stood third with 956 marks. In Commerce Group (Boys) Zohaib Siddiqui, Haris Farooq and Jabber Hussain from PCC stood first, second and third with 986, 966 and 965 marks respectively.
Private candidates Waleed Khalid and M Abu Baker stood first and second in Humanities Group (Boys) with 908 and 907 marks respectively, and Ahmad Shafqat from Government Higher Secondary School, Okara stood third with 899 marks. In Humanities Group (Girls) Ammara Yousuf and Atifa Mansoor from Government College for Women Warburton, Nankana stood first and second with 951 and 944 marks, and Hafiza Tayyaba from Iqra Huffaz Girls Higher Secondary School stood third with 940 marks.
