Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna will arrive in Islamabad on Friday (today) on a two-day official visit to hold talks with Pakistani leadership on key issues between the two countries. According to Foreign Office spokesperson Moazzam Ahmad Khan, the Minister of External Affairs of India was visiting Pakistan from September 7-9 for holding review meeting with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar at her invitation.

He said that the bilateral talks will take place on September 8 (Saturday). The spokesperson said that the foreign minister level talks would be preceded by a meeting of the foreign secretaries of the two countries on Friday (today). The two Ministers, he said, would also co-chair the Plenary of the India-Pakistan Joint Commission to be held in Islamabad on Saturday.

According to diplomats, progress made on various issues, including peace‚ security and confidence-building measures‚ Kashmir‚ Siachen Glacier‚ Sir Creek‚ and economic co-operation will top the agenda of the talks. They said that the Indian External Affairs Minister will meet political leadership of the country to discuss bilateral issues.

On Friday, the sources said, Krishna will meet delegations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Muslim League-Q and Awami National Party in Islamabad. They said that the visiting Indian dignitary is likely to visit Lahore to meet PML-N leadership for holding talks on various issues.
