Referring to the release of Dr Ghulam Rasool by the kidnappers, he said, "unless and until outlaws rings involved in the kidnapping for ransom are brought to justice and the captors set abductees free without the payment of ransom demand, the writ of the government cannot be deemed to be satisfactory in the province". "Prevailing law and order situation in the province is disappointing, which needs drastic measures to feel people safe and secure," he added. Earlier, Balochistan Home Secretary Naseebullah Bazai and Inspector General of Police Umer Khitab briefed the court about the progress made in the kidnapping for ransom and other cases.
"Situation in Balochistan is grim," contrary to the little progress made by the authorities concerned, the Chief Justice responded to their briefing, adding that no one was above the constitution and law and should be treated equally if found guilty.
He said that irrespective of their influence, the criminals must be dealt in accordance with the law. "If action could have been taken against the responsible then kidnapping of BRSP men, incident of Murga Kibzai and scores of similar incidents occurred in Pishin, Quetta and other areas of the province would not have taken place," he maintained.
