Both the injured were rushed to a private hospital (Fatima Bai Hospital) in Rangers' van for medical treatment, who were later moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for surgery. The abrupt and intense attack on Business Recorder House that caused considerable damage to main entrance of the building and a vehicle (ASU-823). It caused panic among the workers of Aaj TV and Business Recorder.
The eyewitnesses said that there were four unidentified armed attackers, riding two motorcycles. They stopped their bikes in front of Business Recorder House. Subsequently, one of the attackers, who was carrying an automatic weapon fired volleys of gunshots on Business Recorder House.
After committing the crime, the attackers sped away towards Teen Hatti Road. There are some unconfirmed reports that the attack was an ethnic party's reaction to what it said "inadequate" coverage to its programme. According to hospital sources, both received multiple gunshot injuries. They said the condition of Jawad was critical. Jawad is working in Biding department of Apex Printry while Naseeb Khan, who hails from Batgram, is serving in Recorder House for last six months.
Meanwhile, consultant to Home Department Sindh Sharfuddin Memon while talking to Business Recorder said the Sindh government would initiate a high level inquiry into the attack. DSP Qaiser said an FIR of the attack had not been registered so far as evidences were still being collected.
