President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday launched veiled attack on the Supreme Court, saying that it (Supreme Court) took 20 years to open up Mehrangate case, but hardly spent anytime in taking up the Rental Power Plants (RPPs) case. Addressing a large gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the eve of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's death anniversary, President Zardari said that he had antidotes of every attack and allegation.

He deplored that the Supreme Court had not yet decided Bhutto reference but it took up RPPs case. President Zardari defended the rescinded RPPs project, saying that these were providing electricity to the poor. The President alleged that the establishment was working against the masses even today. He said that some people wanted them to fight with Urdu speaking Sindhis, saying that they would not fight against anyone.

"Our fight is against poverty, unemployment and price hike," he added. Meanwhile, Chairman, Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Supreme Court (SC) should apologise for the 'judicial murder' of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, a private TV channel reported.

Addressing PPP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) Bilawal said that the apex court should hear the Bhutto reference and resolved it early. He also urged the court to hand down severe punishments to the terrorists, adding that it should re-hear Mukthara Mai case.

APP adds: The CEC of PPP on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution expressing full confidence in the leadership of PPP co-chairman, President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The resolution was presented by Secretary General of PPP, Senator Jehagir Badar.

The CEC meeting expressed confidence on the leadership and thanked the party co-chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and Vice Chairman Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for their efforts for unanimous passage of the 18th, 19th and 20th constitutional amendments from the Parliament and for restoration of the 1973 Constitution in its original form.

The meeting also paid tribute and expressed confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari to file a reference in the Supreme Court to ascertain the reality of error of judgement of the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and to correct the history. The CEC meeting demanded arrest of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's killers and to bring them to justice. The resolution said that today's democracy in the country was due to reconciliatory policy of the government and as a result of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's efforts and sacrifices for the cause of democracy.
