Earlier, Education department had not even completed the basic documents of the said scheme despite passage of about three years. The department had initiated work of documentation of Women University on the directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, sources told.
Gilani had announced the establishment of Women University during his visit to Sukkur on January 11, 2009, but Education department could not even complete the documents for approval of said scheme from the competent technical forums of Federal Government, sources said. Sources disclosed that the scheme had been twice returned back to the Sindh government from Federal government due to non-completion of required documents.
After the notice taken by higher authorities, Education department has accelerated work on the scheme, draft of bill had been made and forwarded to the provincial Law department for further process, sources told.
According to the bill, Education department has named the University as "Begum Nusrat Bhutto University at Sukkur", sources added. Deputy Commissioner Sukkur has also notified the allotment of purposed land of university in the name of Education and Literacy department which was the main objection raised by the Federal government earlier, sources further said.
After the approval from Law department, the bill would be tabled in Sindh Assembly for the final approval and the work would be started on ground, sources told. It may be noted here that Women University at Sukkur would be the ever first Women University of the Sindh province.
